# Compact mode and the device grid

Shrink Studio to only the device, floating over your other windows with the tools you choose. Or expand it to show every booted simulator at once.

## Compact mode

Press `⌘ ⇧ M`, or the compact button in the title bar. The window shrinks to the device with one bar above it, and the device keeps streaming. Press it again to get the full window back, where it was and at its size.

| In compact mode | What it holds |
| --- | --- |
| The title row | The device menu, the connection, Customize bar, Keep on top (floats the window over other windows), and exit. |
| The tools row | Any of the device panel’s menus, whole or as single buttons such as Home, Lock, Screenshot or Record screen. Customize bar picks and orders them. |
| Graphs | Up to four small graphs of the last minute, such as FPS, CPU or memory. |

A graph turns red and says why when its value crosses a limit: frame rate under 50, CPU over 90%, event-loop lag over 100 ms, memory up more than 20% in ten seconds, or the JS heap up more than 30%. Hover a graph to see it as the [Performance](https://squiggle.sh/docs/performance) screen charts it.

## The device grid

Press `⌘ G` to expand the device panel into a grid of every booted simulator. Each one is live and you can use it, and each has its own connection to its app. Compact mode shows one device, so entering it from the grid shows the device you were on.
