ChangelogStudio's compact mode goes anywhere
0.5.1
Released 30 October 2026.
Compact mode gains a Go to screen menu that takes your app to any screen and signs in on the way, and it offers your recent and pinned simulators when no device is running. Your app stops flashing Metro's "Refreshing..." banner while Squiggle works.
The SDK now needs react-native-nitro-modules 0.37.1: run bun add react-native-nitro-modules@0.37.1, then reinstall your pods. Nitro 0.37 doesn't build on React Native 0.83 or older with static frameworks, which includes Expo SDK 54. If that's your app, stay on Squiggle 0.5.0 for now.
Desktop app
- Newcompact mode has a Go to screen menu: turn it on in Customize bar. It lists your app's screens by navigator and takes the app to the one you pick. If the app lands on a sign-in screen on the way, Studio runs your saved
loginorsign-inflow and carries on; with no such flow, it waits for you to sign in. Screens that need parameters, such asorder/[id], aren't listed - Newcompact mode with no device lists your last three simulators and your pinned ones, each with a button that boots it, and has Exit compact mode
- Newcompact mode's device menu opens with a Status section: screen size, frame, agent, host, CLI and session
- Newcompact mode's bell turns toasts off and on. Alerts still reach the notification centre and still play their sound, and hovering the bell opens the notification centre
SDK
- Newapps on NitroModules 0.37 use Squiggle's native connection instead of the slower fallback
- Fix
withSquigglekeeps Metro from watching the.squigglefolder, so your app no longer shows "Refreshing..." each time Squiggle saves a result. Restart Metro after updating
Everything else
- Fix
navigatesteps, the Screen map's Go there and Go to screen move a web app that routes in memory, such as React Navigation on react-native-web, to the screen. Before, only the address changed and the app stayed where it was
